Make 2023 YOUR year!!

Ever feel like you are treading water?  What things could be better in your life?  So many people I have spoken to, including myself, found that 2022 was full on being the first year of no lockdowns; so many grand ideas, plans and catch ups and after two years of forced lockdowns, now’s the time right?

But what if its not the right time? What if we are living by the word should – we should get together and catch up, its been so long – we should go on a holiay as we couldnt for two years straight…. etc etc

To live a life of no regrets, to follow one’s heart, it can require risk.  ‘Build it and they will come’ type of attitude, dream big, and all of that. Seize the day blah blah. But sometimes the little voice within that whispers at first, gets louder and louder if not listened to, will scream at you in ways that speak volumes without a voice.  It might be that slight headache that comes on from a stress level you have become so used to, that it’s your ‘normal’ until you wake up one day and realise that living with this type of of pain can’t go on anymore. That feeling in your gut that’s telling you to change something, and starts to manifest into the body when ignored; and impedes your day to day activities.  When we feel seemingly ‘off our path’, it whispers directions to get back on the path. Everything starts with a whisper. 

The trouble is when we hold on or do things from the land of ‘should’, we metaphorically put cotton wool in our ears that hear what the heart is truly wanting / needing. We become a pin in the cogs all turning together with all the cosmic moving parts you don’t see, that need you to you, that rely on you – nay – that beg of you to listen to your heart; for your when you live your truth, you make way for others to live their truth too. This can be as simple as listening to that voice that tells you to carve time out for yourself for a regular massages and exercises or making some serious lifestyle changes, or anywhere in between.

What can that ‘should’ like? Here are some examples…

 – Holding onto how others might see you or your image / brand

 – Believing there are no other options

 – Placing unrealistic expectations on yourself

 – Following what others are telling you to do with your life, even when it doesn’t resonate with you

 – Believing there’s no time to do self care when you are super busy

 – ‘not enough’ attitude – scarcity 

Years ago, my Reiki Master gave me an amazing piece of advice to shift that ‘should’ energy.  Whenever you hear yourself say that word (should) replace it with could. Eg I really should go for a walk, changes to –  I really could go for a walk.  See how the energy of that sentence changes from a heavy, shame like feeling, to possibility? Its all about letting yourself feel the freedom of what is possible, then its irrelavnt if you walk or not, the flow of creativity is unlocked, which is how the heart sings its best tune.

Now as I sit here and type, I feel a sore trigger point gently speaking to me, you know the one that sits in-between the shoulder blades?  I could now book myself in for a massage….my heart says YES thank you!!
